Apprenticeship
Chapbook.
New Herring Press. 2013

_

An out-of-work adjunct takes a volunteer position at a bird refuge. Drawn in by a baffling mentor, the reluctant narrator encounters history and longing in the middle of a swamp.

New Herring Press (NHP) publishes prose: fiction, nonfiction, and neither/both. Apprenticeship was published as part of NHP’s Series 2, with chapbooks Amanda Davidson, Eileen Myles, Justin Torres, and Sara Veglahn. Art by Jacob Magraw, designed by Carl WIlliamson/Familiar, printed and bound by Letra Chueca / Crooked Letter Press, Portland, OR. NHP believes that books can be meaningful not only because of what they say on the page but also because of how they speak about the cooperation underlying their own production.
